I was 4 years old when I first had Praline’s ice cream. The flagship store was on East Main Street in Meriden, CT where I grew up. It’s been a long love affair with the Black Raspberry ice cream!
Many years later I worked at Jacoby’s in Meriden and that introduced me to the delicious Mudd Pie from Praline’s. Coffee ice cream with a chocolate cookie crust! Yum! The owner had a deep love for the simplicity of Praline’s Vanilla ice cream. Harriette and I enjoyed joining him for a scoop from time to time. What started as a shared love of Praline’s ice cream has turned into a lifetime friendship with his family!
When I was pregnant with my first daughter I enjoyed Praline’s ice cream a bit too much! My daughters became fans of Mr. D’s once they were old enough for candy and ice cream.

Mr.D’s has always been the after school stop for a treat, an ice cream cake and cupcakes for any celebration and a great spot for a cappuccino and sweet treat for mom, when she could get a minute to relax.
Mr. D's was named after the original owner Bill DeFusco. He owned the business for 11 years until I purchased it on July 1, 2021. Seeing that Praline’s was the first taste of ice cream I had as a child and then was the first for my daughters and cousins, it was an honor to work with Praline’s and to keep the tradition going.
